Trip to Germany part 1

We made it to Germany in one long day and loved the sights as we were traveling. Our day started out early 6am and we headed east to catch the Eurotunnel train at 920am. We arrived a little early, so we went in and had some coffee and a snack.   The train ride is only 35 minutes and it seems so much faster than that.  We arrived in France a little before 11am and had a fantastic day of light traffic the whole drive from France....into Belgium and finally into Germany. We arrived at Ramstein around 445pm, so we checked in...unloaded the car and headed to Chili's for dinner!  (You read correctly....Ramstein has a Chilis...and it tastes just like the ones in the states)!!
The next day we did a ride up to Landstuhl to make sure we could find were Rob would have his appointments.  Good thing we did the run a day early because that hospital is very large with little parking.
We enjoyed the sights in and around Ramstein and enjoyed a German lunch at the Ramsteiner Hof....yummy yummy yummy!!!
The following day the girls and I dropped Rob off for his pre-op because we thought it would be an almost all day appointment for him. The girls and I found an awesome park on Ramstein and played there until Rob called for a ride!
Wednesday was the surgery day, so we had a very early start that day and the girls and I had to go with Rob because the hospital wanted to see his driver:)     Wednesday is the day the girls and I found the base pool too!!  We spent a few hours every day at the pool!!!
Rob had PRK and went in with not being able to see without contacts or glasses and came out able to see!!!!
(I will continue my Germany in additional posts!!!....stay tuned)

13 years...face painting...spring break

Spring break is on us!!! It is officially the start of Jenna's three week break and Meghan is out early and will have a two week break! Meghan's spring break doesn't officially start until April 6...but we had to pull her out early for our trip to Germany.
We are packed and almost ready to leave for our trip and are all very excited.
Jenna's teacher's had a little party for them yesterday and painted all the kids faces!!! When Meghan saw Jenna's face she asked if I could paint her face too. I told her I couldn't because I didn't have face paint and she asked if we could just use the spray paint....!hahaha
Our week started out with Rob and I celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary! We went out to lunch at Jude's Ferry and it was delicious!!!
I look forward to posting while in Germany!!!

Skate rink fun

Meghan and Kayla

I went rollerskating this past friday with Meghan's class. Three of the six Kindergarten classes were at the rink at the same time!! Wow, was there a lot of falls but not too many cries!! Meghan has been practicing with some skates a friend gave her, so she did awesome (and I'm not just saying that because I'm her Mom). She only fell two times and it was because kids fell in front of her and she couldn't stop. I have to say the parents, teachers and kids all had a blast!!! I love helping in Meghan's class and will miss those kids when they move to different classes/places next year....but that just means I will have more kids to get to know!

Busy weekend

We have had a very busy weekend!!
~~We took the girls to spend their money on friday night. The BX is the happening location for us here!hahahaha   We ate dinner in the food court and then let the girls spend spend spend!!
Some of you will look back at another post and remember Meghan was saving for an American Girl babydoll.....well it was taking too long.   Thursday night Meghan pulled her wallet out and started putting her money in different envelopes and when I asked her what she was doing she said..."I'm giving it to Memom, Papa and Aunt Tracy as gifts when they come visit."   I told her that was very sweet but they would probably want her to keep her money and save it for the doll....well Meghan started crying and said she wanted to spend it....so that is how we ended up spending the money at the BX.  Jenna bought a Dora cellphone and a stuffed dog. Meghan bought two Bratz girl stuffed animals and a stuffed dog.   (Jenna has saved up some money too, she wasn't spending Meghan's money this weekend)
~~Rob took Jenna's training wheels off her bike this weekend too!!!  She has been asking to have them taken off, so we did it this weekend and she has been practicing very hard on her two-wheel bike.  She doesn't want help and she was riding on the two wheels...by herself this afternoon!!!
~~We decided to introduce the girls to the world of video games!! We bought a Bratz girl PS2 game and Meghan loves it!!!  Meghan (with our help) has enjoyed playing the game, which includes dressing the girls up!!!
~~~The nicest part of our weekend was....we saw sunshine all weekend!!!
HELLO SPRING!!!
Germany
I'm so happy to type...we are getting ready to head to Germany for over 10 days!!  Rob finally received an appointment for his corrective eye surgery and we are so happy it is so soon. We have been planning and preparing for it, so it wasn't a shock to get a short notice to go.  We plan to do a little shopping and sightseeing while we are there and a few friends are passing along where to go and what to do!!   Should be fun and I'm happy it worked out that the girls will be on spring break while we are there.   We are going to drive there using the Eurotunnel!!  We have already been on the train with the car and it was so cool to be under the English Channel.
We will only have about a week and a half to get ready for Mom, Dad and Tracy's visit when we return from Germany.    Can't wait to share our experiences and pictures with you!!!
Jude's Ferry
This is one of the River boats!! Very long and skinny.
We took the girls to feed some ducks after Church today. It was a beautiful day to be outside. We have been saving up some bread for a while and thought the ducks would love it, but they were not very hungry today. I think mating season has something to do with that. We also took the girls to Mildenhall and walked along the river (not very big) for a while too. We fed a few swans, ducks and geese there.
I'm only posting pictures from Jude's Ferry today because we didn't take the camera on the Mildenhall walk.
Mail
Meghan mailed her first letter last week and she addressed it and mailed it to Jenna. I didn't take a picture of the other side of the envelope but it was addressed to Jenna. All the children in Meghan's class had to learn their addresses and after they did that, they wrote a letter to someone in the family and mailed it. Since we receive our mail at the APO address....the teacher, Ms. S mailed them to the Box and not our street address. Meghan and Jenna both know our street address and what country we live in!!!
Freaky Fens
The name of my post today comes from a comment Meghan made after we saw the sheep skeleton and the bird skeleton.  Meghan said...."this place is freaky"....... We did agree with her. Not sure what was happening in the Fen area we were walking, but it was interesting to see.
We went to Lakenheath Fens, which were man made for the farms in the area. Birds, otters, deer all live in this area, but we only saw some birds.
We decided to take one of the short paths today, but it ended up longer than we planned. I told Rob..."I guess we took the long cut!!" We arrived back at the car as the rain started! The blue sky disappeared too:(
The girls and I were able to break in our new hiking/trail shoes this trip and our walking sticks.  The walking sticks were found in the Thetford forest and Rob sanded them down and painted them.
side note........this post was longer, but after loosing it three times, I've decided to publish it as is!!!
